👋 About Me

Hi! I’m Serena (LinkedIn, Instagram). I’ve led dozens of women-only backpacking trips across California and love helping beginners feel strong and at home on trail. I spend thousands of miles on trails each year, hiking, running, skiing, mountaineering, and backpacking.

One stat that really stuck with me came from a 2017 Outside survey: when asked about their top safety worry, 34% of women said “men” (assault or harassment). The second most common answer was “bears,” at 12%. I don’t know what the stat is for men, but I doubt it’s “women.”

That made me want to do something. I believe one of the best ways to feel safe outside is to go with other women, not just to feel protected, but to experience what’s possible when safety isn’t a constant concern. I’m only where I am because of the incredible women who showed me how expansive the outdoors can feel.

That’s why I’m hosting this trip, and I think it’s going to be really fun :)

This is something I do on the side, outside of my day job, because I love it. I’m not a big commercial outfitter; I’m just someone who really cares about helping women feel confident in the outdoors.
